Every design in the templates gallery is labeled Free or Premium.
What each plan gets
Free — the free template set, including ATS-strict single-column designs. These are complete, unwatermarked templates, not previews. A resume built on a free template downloads as a clean PDF with no upgrade prompt attached.
Premium — the full library, including design-forward layouts, the matching cover letter designs, and the templates that support a photo.
Trying a Premium template on the free plan
You can browse and preview everything. Selecting a locked design opens an upgrade prompt rather than applying it — your resume keeps the design it already has until you upgrade. Nothing changes behind your back and nothing half-applies.
If Premium ends while you're using a Premium template
Your resume keeps its design. We don't restyle your document or swap it to something free.
What changes is your ability to edit. On the free plan you keep one editable resume and the rest become locked previews. If the resume you keep editable is on a Premium template, it stays on that template — but you won't be able to switch it to another Premium design, and features like the photo slot stop being available.

Two badges, two different things
Don't confuse the labels:
- Free / Premium is about your plan.
- ATS-strict / design-forward is about what the layout is built for.
Both appear on every card, and they're independent — there are free ATS-strict templates and free design-forward ones. See ATS-strict vs design-forward.
Good to know
- Switching designs never costs you content, on any plan.
- Cover letter designs follow the same free and Premium split. Cover letters themselves are a Premium feature.
- The library changes as we publish new designs, so it's worth another look if you last chose a while ago.
