A cover letter in ResumeLove belongs to one resume. You create it from that resume, and it's drafted from the facts you've already entered.
Create a cover letter
- Open a resume from your resumes.
- In the editor header, switch from Resume to the Cover Letter tab.
- Choose Draft with AI to generate a first draft built from your resume.
Each resume has a single cover letter, so once it exists you'll return to that same letter to edit it.
Grounded in your resume
The draft is written only from what's in your resume — and the job you're targeting, if you've added one. It won't invent experience or claims you didn't list. If you haven't added a target job, you'll get a more general letter; adding the job to your resume produces a sharper, tailored one.
Edit and refine
The cover letter opens in the same editor, on its own tab:
- Edit any part of the letter directly, just like your resume.
- Use the AI controls to re-draft — pick a tone, adjust the length, and select Generate.
- Every word is yours to change; the AI just gives you a starting point.
If you later change the target job on your resume, you may see a prompt to re-tailor the letter so it matches.
Good to know
Cover letters are part of Premium. On the free plan, the Cover Letter tab shows an upgrade prompt instead of the draft tools.
